Forty Hours of Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament
On the weekend of September 30, 2016 St. John Vianney College Seminary exercised a Forty Hour devotion to the Blessed Sacrament as a way to invite Jesus Christ into our lives and into our studies. Why did we select forty hours for our devotion? St. Charles Borromeo spoke about this ancient practice which reminds us of the forty hours that Christ spent in the tomb after his crucifixion. The seminarians use this time to remind ourselves of the centrality of Christ in our lives. We use this time to pray not only for ourselves and our vocation, but also for our friends, families, and communities that provide us great support, as well as all those who have asked for our prayers.
