The Seminary is a liberal arts college, therefore, much of the student’s time is spent in pursuit of excellence in his studies. St. John Vianney College Seminary is a serious institution of higher education. Its purpose and format encourage the broadest contact with the liberal arts and majors in the area of Philosophy or Theology. The instructional staff of St. John Vianney College Seminary consists of 22 faculty members, some of whom are priests in residence. All courses are taught at the Seminary facilities. St. John Vianney College Seminary is three miles from the University of Miami and from Florida International University. Miami-Dade Community College, one of the largest junior colleges in the nation, is located seven miles from the seminary, and St. Thomas University, the archdiocesan university, southwest campus is located at the seminary. There are many opportunities for students to do research and library work at other colleges and universities, as well as to avail themselves of taking additional courses. St. John Vianney operates on the semester system, with examinations prior to Christmas and in early May.
