THE 102 - INTRODUCTION TO ROMAN CATHOLICISM (3) (required) A survey of Catholic beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church with particular attention to faith creeds, sacraments, moral life and spirituality. This course covers the basic theological concepts necessary to take other theology courses. THE 201 - PENTATEUCH (3) A study of the first five books of the Bible with attention being given to their theological importance for Christian theology. THE 202 - GOSPELS (3) A study of the four Gospels to understand who Jesus was, what was his mission and how the faith and morality of the Church find their roots in the Gospels. THE 203 - CHURCH HISTORY l (3) A survey of Christian history from its apostolic origins to the medieval with attention to the major persons and events who shaped Christian history. THE 204 - CHURCH HISTORY II (3) A survey of Christian history from the Reformation to the present day with attention to thee major persons and events that shaped Christian history. THE 280 - SPECIAL TOPICS (var.) The topic is selected to meet the academic needs of a group of students. THE 301 - PROPHETS (3) A survey course in the major and minor prophets to under-stand the ministry of prophecy, the historical context of their mission and how their message influences Christian theology. THE 302 - SAINT PAUL (3) A study of the style and content of the letter of Saint Paul to the early Christian churches with special emphasis on his Christology and his understanding of Church. THE 303 - THE CHURCH (3) An examination of the major themes that define the Christian community as a Church and how this under-standing evolved in history through the Councils of the Church. This course integrates ecclesiology and contemporary pastoral practices. THE 306 - FUNDAMENTAL MORAL THEOLOGY (3) A study of the fundamental moral concepts and principles. Emphasis on the question of Christian faith and morality, human person as subject of moral behavior, moral con-science and human responsibility, laws, norms and moral values, options, attitudes and acts, sin, conversion and Christian virtues. THE 307 - CATHOLIC SOCIAL THOUGHT (3) This course examines the social teachings of the Catholic Church with particular attention to papal social teaching in the modern era. THE 308 - ANGLO-HISPANIC CHRISTIAN EXPRESSIONS (3) An examination of convergences and variations in Christian religions as these are reflected in devotional practices, art and architecture, literature, music and social concerns in both Anglo and Hispanic cultures. THE 309 - GREAT CHRISTIAN THINKERS (3) A study of the major men and women who have contributed to Catholic theological thinking. This course requires that students read some of the actual works of these great thinkers. THE 310 - SEXUAL MORALITY (3) A study of the biblical and historical sources of Catholic teachings on sex and marriage with a discussion of pastoral issues that involve human sexuality. THE 401 - PSALMS IN THE LITURGY (3) This course will present commentaries on the theology of the psalms and how they are used in Christian liturgy. THE 451 - CONTEMPORARY LITURGY (3) Historical, theological, and practical insights of the con-temporary Liturgical movement. The Documents of Vatican Council II used as the focal point of discussion are the Constitution on Sacred Liturgy and the General Instruction to the Roman Missal. Practical application to the Seminary's liturgies is required. THE 480 - SPECIAL TOPICS (var) The topic is selected to meet the academic needs of a group of students. THE 481 - PRAYER AND SPIRITUALITY
