PSY 102 - GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY (3)
Competencies required for analysis of psychological principles underlying basic processes such as perceiving, learning, thinking, motivations and emotions. Students are introduced to theories and major areas of psychology as a science, with the intent of understanding its history, present status, and future perspectives.
PSY 218 - DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY (3)
Physical, social, cognitive and personality development within the context of a lifespan developmental approach. Genetic, maturational, psychological and environmental factors are integrated to account for behavior at various levels in the life of human beings. Considerations will be given to both theoretical and empirical perspectives.
Pre-requisite: (Psychology so2)
PSY 30l - SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY (3)
Emphasis will be given to psychological processes such as social perception, attitudes, communication, and social adjustment arising from interpersonal relationships in society. This course will use regular films as a didactic tool for the student to learn how to identify, in practical terms, the psychosocial reality in which they live and interact.
PSY 318 - THEORIES OF PERSONALITY (3)
A study of the most significant traditional and contemporary theories concerning the ways in which personality has been explained. Focus is placed on philosophical foundations and psychological interpretations. From the applicability point of view, emphasis is placed upon the understanding of others as well as one's own personality.
PSY 418 - PSYCHOLOGY OF RELIGION (3)
The psychological study of religion in light of the nature of religion and the scientific method. Analysis of the development of religious thinking, the religious experience, and the need for moral decision-making. History of the psychological study of religion, psychological interpretations or schools of thought, and psychosocial factors in religious beliefs are among the topics of study found in this course.
