Bachelor of Arts Degree's General Degree Requirements By virtue of the power invested in St. John Vianney College Seminary by the State of Florida, the degree of Bachelor of Arts is conferred on those students who fulfill all of the necessary requirements in the major areas of philosophy or theology. Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts Degree must complete a minimum of 129 semester hours credit. Candidates for a degree must complete their last year in residence (30 semester hours credit). In order to qualify for a degree, a student must earn a cumulative point average of at least 2.0 and a minimum average of 2.0 in philosophy. Core curriculum requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree include the following:
* Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree must ordinarily take a minimum of one course in their second language each semester. Students using English as a Second Language must take 18 credits of English as a Second Language but may be exempted from the Spanish requirement. Students must demonstrate that they have basic computer skills either through a course or a test.Ordinarily the Humanities requirement is fulfilled by taking Art and Music Appreciation; the Social Science requirement is fulfilled by two courses in Western Civilization and one course in American Government. The Academic Dean may accept other courses for these requirements. |
